Who Needs P90X?

Good evening everyone.  I just wanted to post a quick update after last night.  Last night was pretty rough, I had trouble keeping down food, though I'm not sure if that was because of the chemo or watching the offense on display in the Jets/Ravens game.  I have officially lost my appetite, and am proud to say that I have joined the select club of 70 somethings who enjoy a diet of Ensure on a daily basis.

I have definitely started to feel a little bit better after last night, baby steps for sure, but still improvement is improvement. I am hopeful that I will be back to feeling good again in another day or so.  I will say I think I might be on to a new weight loss program.  When they weighted me at my appointment yesterday it indicated I'd lost 6 pounds since Thursday.  What is amazing about that is I didn't lose my appetite until Monday, so it wasn't due to a lack of eating.  I guess there is no "normal" when you have Health Ledger's medicine cabinet flowing through you on a daily bases.

On another note, I wanted to share some of the songs that I have put together that help pull me through when I am feeling down.  As I have blogged in the past, I am by no means a music xpert, but hey, I like what I like.
Here is a sample of some of the songs I listen to when doing my laps in the hospital:

"Armageddon It"  Def Lepard
"The One And Only"  Countdown
"Video Killed the Radio Star"  Buggles
"Dancing With Myself"  Billy Idol
"Train in Vain"  The Clash
"Somebody's Baby" Jackson Brown
"Silly Love Songs"  Wings
"Wake Me Up(Before You Go Go)"  Wham!*

*Yes, I really like this Wham! song, so shoot me

Anyways, that is a little snapshot into what I am listening to during the rough times.  What would be on your playlist?

  1. Son,

I don't recognize any of those songs. I guess it is because I spend all my time listening to talk radio.

Of course, listening to Paul Finebaum gives me some of the same symptoms you have!!!

  2. It may sound weird, but my "pump-up" song has always been 'For Once In My Life' by Stevie Wonder. It reminds me of the love God has for me, and that with that, I can do anything...even when times are rough...and no one can ever take that away from me :) Keep up the good work! Hope you get to feeling better soon :)

  3. OK, Michael, I know this dates me but listen to the second greatest pop/rock song of all time, "Don't Worry Baby" (appropriate) by the Beach Boys. You'll either like it or puke up all the crap in your system. Nothing like some Beach Boys to make you feel better!

PS Trash, I mean Trish, helped me figure out the spreadsheet. Now, a couple hundred entries to make. Thanks so much for that!

  4. "I'm Broken" by Pantera. You'll be ready to run through a wall afterwards.

  5. Michael,

I'm glad to hear you are feeling a 'teeny' bit better, but I'm gonna pray you feel MUCH better by tomorrow!!!

As for music: you may find this a bit strange (some of my family members do)! But I LOVE Christmas music - any time of year!! It never fails to boost my spirits and make my heart happy! Such a beautiful season full of the joy of Jesus' birth and love of family.....in fact, now that the weather is beginning to cool down a little here, and the promise of fall is in the air -- I maybe be in the mood for a few Carpenters or Amy Grant Christmas ballads right now!

Getting ready to head to my daughter's for a few days to keep the grandkids while she and her husband go to Las Vegas for a little R & R. I may or may not be able to access your blog from there, but know that I will not forget to pray for you!

Remember, tomorrow is going to be better!!!

P.S. Stopping to pick up something from 'MICHAEL'S" on my way....THAT should remind me to pray for you!!!

  6. "Dancing With Myself..." Amazing. Check out the video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VNx78SAq8M.

Before there was "Rent" there was Billy Idol.

  7. Obviously, anything 80s. Some that come to mind:

    Don't You (Forget About Me)
    The Safety Dance
    In Your Eyes
I Don't Want to Lose Your Love
    Anything Bon Jovi
    Cherry Pie
    Here I Go Again

The playlist would also include anything Alanis from Jagged Little Pill.

And of course, being the ghetto thug I am, I would also have to include some thug-life tunes like: Pony, Thong Song, Back that A** Up, Shoop, California Luv, This is How We Do It, Motown Philly, anything TI or 'Lil John(representing for the ATL), and the list goes on.

I think you sing a particularly good "Kiss" by Prince, so maybe you should add that one to your list! The first "note" is right on . . .

  10. Hey Michael,
Visiting Indianpolis to see my Mom and family. Shared your blog with her. She loves all this technology. We're praying the Lord answers all the many prayers given on your behalf. I've talked to your Mom more in the last month than the last 10 years. We're going to keep this up for sure in the future.
As far as favorite music goes, Marge recommends a favorite hymn based on the 23rd Psalm---The Lord's My Shepherd, I'll Not Want. Praying those words give you encouragement today and the weeks ahead.
Husband Tom is going to PU/Ball State game tomorrow. Shopped all afternoon for a PU polo shirt---not one to be found. Oh well, maybe a sign they will win with all that support.
    Love,
    Rhonda and Marge
